BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a method and associated processes for producing, communicating and analyzing building models.
BIM uses an intelligent 3D digital model as a central element of exchanges between the different participants in the act of building. The model is created in the hands of the architect. It is then made accessible to the various design offices with the aim of being supplemented or even technically modified.
BIM offers the various stakeholders in a project the possibility of validating choices and simulations for all disciplines (architecture, facade, civil engineering, finishing work, electricity, etc...) in a virtual environment very close to the real project.
The BIM method must be used very early in construction projects, SIA phases 31, 32.
Thus, analyses, controls and decision-making make it possible to better design projects but also to detect problems or make modifications before completion on the site.
In Switzerland, the Bauen digital Schweiz association is responsible for the digital transformation of industry, construction and real estate. Bauen Digital Schweiz is the Swiss section of buildingSMART International.
Its objective is to enable digitalization and cooperation of all parties involved throughout the life cycle of a building. Bauen digital Schweiz develops numerous documents and guides to help construction and real estate players understand and implement digital transformation
